Fire & Knives

Join the team

Teach kids real skills with real tools.

We teach kids in grades K to 5 to build a fire, carve with a real knife, tie knots and find their way, two instructors to every class, under close supervision. We are growing town by town and we hire ahead of the class. Tell us who you are and where you are, and someone on our team will reach out.

Tell us about you.

Optional. A profile, a site, a video, anything.

No resume needed. If there is a class near you, you will hear from a person, not a system.

An instructor stands with a group of kids in the woods, mid-lesson.

The work

Afternoons, mostly.

A class is sixty to ninety minutes, fourteen children at most, a lead and an assistant. You bring patience and a steady hand; we bring every tool, the fire kits, the curriculum and the training. Saturdays, vacation weeks and summer weeks exist for the people who want more.

Who we look for

Calm around kids. Sharp around tools.

Teachers, coaches, camp counselors, outdoor educators, firefighters, parents, veterans. Nobody is born knowing how to teach a seven-year-old to carve. We train every instructor, and nobody leads a class until they have passed the skill check. Eighteen and over. Every adult who works with children clears a background check first.

What happens next

You raise your hand.

We reach out and say hello, let you know what classes are coming up that you could teach, and find out a little more about you.

Who you would be teaching with.
